About Liz

As a young child in North Wales I loved to pick and press flowers. Years later I began to design earrings for myself from found objects (bits of rusted metal, bottle caps, wire). I would often add a dried flower or feather. I kept dreaming about how wonderful it would be to somehow preserve the beauty of all the pressed leaves, petals and flowers I had from over the years.

Like so many creative processes, after struggling for months with the question of how to do it, it seemed to come to me from some mysterious wellspring of a dream. I have now been implementing this process for thirty years, while constantly working to improve upon it.

The Design Process

I pick the flowers at the peak of their glory on a dry, sunny day. After they have been pressed I use a laminating process to support the leaf or petal and then apply a matte finish to maintain its beauty.

Each pair of earrings is individually designed and hand crafted, no two are exactly the same. They are naturally very light and quite durable and when not being worn they should be stored in a cool dry place, away from light.

If you are interested in purchasing a pair you can browse  the Cambridge Artists Cooperative website.  If the earrings you want have sold please feel free to contact me at lizluriedesign@gmail.com — depending on the availability of the petal or flower components, I may be able to make you something similar.
